Human beings’ acceptance and non-acceptance of guidance is an issue that the prophets, our divine teachers, have faced in the path of religious education. According to the verses of the Holy Qur'an, some people believed in the early stages of guidance; But there were also some who resisted the guidance of the prophets. The present study has used descriptive-analytical method to investigate individual and social barriers to religious guidance in the Qur'an. The results showed that according to the Qur'an, individual barriers such as "cruelty of heart, negligence, arrogance, rebellion, suspicion, worldliness and sensual desires" and social barriers such as "polytheistic society, companionship with bad friends and following the wrong path of one’s ancestors » are the most important reasons for human’s rejection of guidance, and should be considered as a serious challenge in goal-setting for the religious education curriculum. Of course, educational planners should consider such things as "cultivating the spirit of piety, gaining faith, cultivating truth-seeking and truthfulness, and introducing the philosophy of emigration for the cause of God" as specific goals for rational confrontation with obstacles to religious guidance.
