Considering the influential role of dialogue in individual and social education, it is necessary to pay special attention to this skill. But to achieve this goal, it is essential to study the value and significance of dialogue. This paper seeks to study the individual and social educational functions of dialogue from the viewpoint of the holy Qur'an and traditions. Using a desk research and concentrating on related sources, this research studies the concept of dialogue and its relation to other similar concepts to clarify the etiquettes and conditions of a favorable dialogue. The individual and social effects that have been discussed here are as follows, expanding knowledge and bring up a critical thinking, self-awareness and enhancing confidence as the individual effects and tolerance, sympathy, cooperation and unity and understanding (through intergenerational, religions and civilization dialogue) as the social effects. برقراری ارتباط مؤثر با دیگران، لازمه‌ی زندگی در جهان امروز است، و «گفت وگو» مهم ترین ابزار برای برقرای این ارتباط به شمار می آید. با توجه به نقش تأثیرگذار گفت وگو در تربیت ابعاد فردی و اجتماعی، لازم است به پرورش این مهارت، توجه ویژه ای مبذول شود. لیکن تا زمانی که ارزش، اهمیت و آثار تربیتی گفت وگو تبیین و بررسی نشده باشد، احساس نیاز و تمایل به آن به وجود نخواهد آمد. هدف اصلی مقاله‌ی حاضر، تبیین کارکردهای تربیتی گفت وگو در ابعاد فردی و اجتماعی است و در این زمینه از آیات و روایات مرتبط نیز استفاده شده است. بدین منظور، با مطالعه‌ی متون مرتبط، ضمن مفهوم شناسی واژه‌ی «گفت وگو» و ارتباط آن با سایر مفاهیم مشابه، آداب و شرایط گفت وگوی مطلوب تشریح شده و در نهایت، آثار گفت وگو در بعد فردی و اجتماعی بررسی گردیده است. در بعد فردی، آثاری همچون گسترش شناخت و معرفت، پرورش تفکر نقاد، خودآگاهی، و تقویت اعتماد به نفس، و در بعد اجتماعی سعه‌ی صدر، همدلی و هم اندیشی، و حصول وحدت و تفاهم (از طریق گفت وگوی بین نسلی، گفت وگوی تمدن ها و گفت وگوی ادیان) تبیین گردیده است. https://marifat.nashriyat.ir/sites/marifat.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/3_41.pdf
