Religion and politics are inseparable and the infallible leaders have been introduced as the most important politicians in the Ummah. Politics in the course of the infallible leaders of Islam has principles that distinguish it from the political systems of the world. In this article, we intend to study the principle of "Avoiding Cruelty and Violence" in the political course of Imam Ali through a narrative and historical method and examining the sources of Islamic history. Imam Ali's statements and letters to the rulers and governors, in particular his letter to Malik al-Ashtar, and also historical narrations indicate that except in the case of law enforcement and the implementation of revelation orders, Imam Ali's effort was to seek justice and to avoid violence and oppression. He was reluctant to seize power and maintain it at any cost, such as bloodshed, suspicion, and the use of sword to compel society to obey. در مکتب تشیع امامی، امور دنیایی و سیاسی جامعه در ارتباطی تنگاتنگ با مسائل آخرت تعریف شده اند. دین و سیاست تفکیک ناپذیر است و رهبران معصوم علیه السلام مهم ترین سیاست مداران امت معرفی شده اند. سیاست در سیره‌ی رهبران معصوم اسلام علیه السلام از اصولی برخوردار است که آن را با نظامات سیاسی دنیا متمایز کرده است. در این مقاله برآنیم، با روش نقلی و تاریخی و بررسی منابع تاریخ اسلام، اصل «پرهیز از ظلم و خشونت» در سیره‌ی سیاسی امیرمؤمنان علی علیه السلام را بررسی کنیم. بیانات و نامه های حضرت به والیان و استانداران به ویژه، نامه حضرت به مالک اشتر و روایات تاریخی بیانگر این است که جز در موارد اجرای قانون و عمل به دستورات وحی، کوشش حضرت بر این بود تا در پی اجرای عدالت بوده و از توسل به خشونت و ظلم پرهیز کند. امیرمؤمنان علیه السلام از به دست آوردن قدرت و حفظ آن را به هر قیمتی، چون خون ریزی، عمل بر اساس سوء ظن و به کارگیری قهر و شمشیر برای وادار کردن جامعه به اطاعت، گریزان بود. https://marifat.nashriyat.ir/sites/marifat.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/2_53.pdf
