According to Imam Baqir, one of the characteristics of the true Shiites is their avoiding greed and tasting the sweetness of asceticism and contentment by curtailing theirs desires. In moral discussions, contentment versus greed, asceticism versus worldly attachments, and the attainment of the sweetness of asceticism are all achieved through curtailing one’s desires. Basically, a distinction must be made between attachment to the world and effort in worldly affairs. Attachment to the world and targeting it in life means the love of the world, and this is the root of many evils and wrongs, but making efforts in the worldly affairs to earn money and make scientific progress is not condemned. One of the best ways to detach from the world is to spend some one’s earnings in the cause of God. Also, a distinction must be made between long-term desires and ambitiousness. The desires that lead to perfection and nearness to God are lofty and desirable. این متن شرحی است بر تفسیر اوصاف شیعیان واقعی از منظر امام باقر علیه السلام در توصیه به جابر بن یزید جعفی است. از نظر آن حضرت، یکی از اوصاف شیعیان واقعی این است که باید با پرهیز از حرص، قناعت نموده، شیرینی زهد و زهدورزی را با کوتاه کردن آرزو چشید.     در بحث های اخلاقی قناعت در مقابل حرص، زهد در مقابل وابستگی به دنیا و دستیابی به شیرینی زهد، با کوتاه کردن آرزو به دست می آید. اصولاً باید بین دلبستگی به دنیا و تلاش و کوشش در امور دنیایی تفاوت قائل شد. دلبستگی به دنیا و هدف قرار دادن آن در زندگی، حب دنیا است و این امر ریشه بسیاری از بدی ها و پلیدی هاست، اما تلاش و کوشش در امور دنیا، برای کسب درآمد و پیشرفت علمی نکوهیده نیست.     یکی از بهترین راه کارهای دل کندن از دنیا این است که انسان بخشی از چیزهایی که دوست دارد، در راه خدا انفاق کند. همچنین، بین آرزوهای طولانی و بلندهمتی، باید تفاوت قائل شد. آرزوهایی که به کمال و قرب الهی منجر می شود، بلندهمتی است و امری پسندیده می باشد. https://marifat.nashriyat.ir/sites/marifat.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/1_72.pdf
