Beside the difference between [the words of] Islam and faith, their applications are different as well. For example, the degree of Islam is lower than Iman (faith) and it has some levels: Islam means submission. Islam, in the meaning of submission, is sometimes optional and sometimes genetical. Sometimes submission is optional and sometimes it is practical with no heart conviction. Sometimes it is surrender in the battlefield and it is not optional. On the other hand, Islam – meaning submission due to heart conviction – has some degrees as well: first is to follow religious commands and not to commit any sin; second is to comply with the makruhs (disapproved) and the mustahabs (recommended), and the last degree is not to originally pay attention to anything other than God. This article discusses the relationship between Islam and faith and their levels in detail. این مجموعه به بحث پیرامون جایگاه اسلام و ایمان به عنوان فضایل اخلاقی، که موجب سعادت انسان در دنیا و آخرت می شود، می پردازد. افزون بر تفاوتی که میان اسلام و ایمان مطرح است، کاربردهای این دو نیز متفاوت است. یکی اینکه اسلام جنبه ای نازل تر از ایمان قرار دارد و دارای مراتبی است: اسلام به معنای انقیاد و تسلیم است. این اسلام به معنای تسلیم، گاهی اختیاری است و گاهی تکوینی. گاهی تسلیم اختیاری است و گاهی عملی و بدون اعتقاد قلبی. گاهی نیز تسلیم شدن در صحنه جنگ است و امری غیراختیاری است. از سوی دیگر، اسلام به معنای تسلیم از سر اعتقاد قلبی نیز دارای مراتبی است. عمل به دستورات دینی و اینکه انسان هیچ گناهی مرتکب نشود؛ اینکه حتی مکروهات و مستحبات را رعایت کند و مرحله آخر اینکه انسان اصالتاً توجهی به غیرخدا نداشته باشد. این متن به تفصیل به ارتباط اسلام و ایمان و مراتب این دو می پردازد. https://marifat.nashriyat.ir/sites/marifat.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/1_104.pdf
