Abstract
This paper includes Allameh Misbah’s ethics lesson on the relationship between religion and ethics addressing the students of religious studies. Religion includes rules, beliefs and ethics. The religion of Islam, that is the religion of truth, is based on three principles: faith in God, faith in the Day of Judgment, and faith in what God Almighty has revealed. These three are the principles of religion (monotheism, prophethood and resurrection). Therefore, religiosity, that is a matter of belief, devotion, and practice, has levels the quorum of which is belief in the principles of religion. There are two assumptions regarding the relationship between religion and ethics: 1. In Islam, moral value has no meaning without belief in God, the Prophet, and the Resurrection. 2. Some moral levels cannot be realized without religion. The second assumption is acceptable and faith and righteous actions are connected to each other. This article deals with the relationship between religion and ethics in detail.
