Abstract:
Education was and is the most fundamental social activity of humans for change, development and evolution. Therefore, it was continuously given attention and interpretation by various schools, groups, individuals and thought bases. This study aims to examine the thought of two contemporary thinkers; Imam Khomeini as the founder of the Islamic Revolution centered on religion, and Emile Durkheim as the founder of sociology of education and sociology of religion; It was investigated in the field of education. Although the world view of these two thinkers are opposite in terms of epistemological and ontological bases, but due to their influence in the field of education, their educational-educational thoughts in three dimensions are ontological, human-making and Theology was analyzed. The appropriate method for this purpose was the inference method. The findings showed that the two viewpoints examined in the field of education and training are generally opposite to each other in all three dimensions. But in details such as the necessity of educating people for the growth and development of society, and more importantly, paying attention to duty was clearly visible in the view of two thinkers. Also, both of them believed that society needs unity and solidarity, which can be achieved through education, although the basis and goal were different from each of them
