Abstract:
After the Muslim conquest of Spain, a group of Christians had a good cooperation with the Muslim Arabs in governing the country. Maintaining their religion, this group of Christians also imitated many Arab customs and traditions. They were known as Musta’ribs or Mudaribs among Christian historians. Musta’ribs were the link between Muslim Arab rulers and the Christian people in the territory of Spain, and played a significant role in transferring the Muslim heritage to Spain and promoting Arab culture. According to this research, Mudarib or Musta’rib was a term for Christians living in Andalusia who accepted the rule of Muslim rulers and their customs. In spite of many problems they faced, they had a great influence in transferring Islamic sciences and Greek philosophy to Andalusia as well, and they created the Mudaribi style in their art. Using a descriptive-analytical method, this research aims to clarify the role of Musta’ribs in taking advantage of Muslim’s culture and civilization and applying it to develop their land.
